Joanna in Havana – 2

The U.N. Conference on Trade and Employment was held in Havana, Cuba, in March 1948. The Bretton Woods Conference of 1944 had recommended setting up the International Trade Organization. The ITO would have complemented the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) which were set up. The ITO charter was agreed on at the conference, but the charter was not ratified by the U.S. Senate. As a result, the ITO never came into existence. Still it looks fun…..
